The Library Tree Project - Harvard Law School Spring Concert 2011 - Opening of the Creche Feliz Library

I hope this message finds you well.
 
I am delighted to share the pictures of our new library, located in the city of Bom Jesus, in the North part of Rio de Janeiro State, six hours from Rio de Janeiro City.
 
The "Creche Feliz" Library is the result of the efforts of volunteers from all over the world. The funds employed to establish the fourth library of the Library Tree Project were raised during the Harvard Law School Spring Concert and hosted in the gorgeous Paine Hall, in Harvard, Cambridge. This library will benefit over 60 children between the ages of  0-6 years old
 
The volunteers of the Library Tree Project would like to acknowledge the efforts of six persons that were directly responsible for making this project reality. Adnir Pereira, the volunteer who manages the daily activities in the Creche Feliz library. Stanislas Adam (HLS LLM 11) and Joshua Sekoski (HLS 12), who shared their talents and efforts to make the HLS Spring Concert happen. Cica Schurig, Elym Cunha, David Peixoto and Aristides Neto, who from Rio and Sao Paulo gave all the support for the establishment of the Creche Feliz library.

Above all, we would like to say thanks to Aaron Litvin and Yadira Rivera, from the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, to Mary Welstead and all the members of the Child Advocacy Program, to Margaret De Marco and all the members of the Harvard Law School Graduate Program and to the members of the Harvard Law School Music Society, the Harvard Medical School Chamber of Music and the Harvard Law School Brazilian Student Association.

Library Tree Project - Bom Jesus Library - First Steps - Jul 6, 2011

Please find below pictures of the acquisitions made so far in order to establish the Bom Jesus Library with the donations gathered during in the Harvard Law School Spring Concert, held in March, 2011.

A computer was also bought and will be delivered next week to the library. Currently, we have been committed in gathering books donations and buying the last books that will become part of this library that will benefit 60 children between 0 and 6 years old.

The library will start operating in August. We will keep you posted! If you would like to take part on the Library Tree Project, do not hesitate to contact us back as below.

Primeiros passos para a implementação da Biblioteca Creche Feliz em Bom jesus - Julho 6, 2011

Olá queridos!

É com enorme prazer que encaminhamos algumas fotos das comprinhas feitas com as doações do concerto realizado em Harvard em prol da Biblioteca na Creche Feliz, em Bom Jesus. Temos aqui uma parte em decoração dos espaços, materias didáticos, papelaria em geral, jogos e brinquedos. 

- 9 unidades de pufes coloridos para a sala de TV / brinquedoteca e biblioteca.
- 7 m2 piso emborrachado branco tipo tatame 1 x 1 m para piso do berçario.
- 6 m2 piso em grama sintética para sala de TV brinquedoteca e biblioteca.
- Brinquedos diversos
- Cestos organizadores
- Conjunto de lixeiras para reciclagem
- Jogos educativos
- Material de papelaria para organização: etiquetas, post-it, pastas, caixas arquivo, fita frete, durex etc
- Material papelaria para desenvolvimento de atividades: canetinhas coloridas, giz de cera, cola, tesouras, massa modeladora etc

Para finalizar, a bandeirinha do Brasil para os nosso futuros talentos sempre levarem consigo!

A próxima etapa é tentarmos arrecadar ainda mais doações de brinquedos, livros e materias e agilizarmos a questão do trasporte para a BIBLIOTECA DE BOM JESUS o quanto antes!!

Please find in this post the invitation for the HLS - HMS Spring Charity Concert. Please also find the complete information on the Library Tree Project, to which all the proceeding for the concert will be turned to.

Counting on the involvement of the Harvard Community, we expect to open a new community library in a small municipality called Bom Jesus do Itabapoana, seven hours north from Rio de Janeiro. For that purpose, the Harvard Law and Med Students are organizing a charity concert.

If you cannot make it to the concert personally, although you will a great chance to meet friends over great music, you can still help creating the library by purchasing tickets online for $10 as a Harvard Student or for $15 for non-students at http://ofa.fas.harvard.edu/cal/details.php?ID=42067

You can also donate directly to the Library Tree Project in Brazil by contacting us, as below.

Please, find more information on the Library Tree Project and the Library herein. The complete budget for the creation of the library and additional information on the children that will benefit from it are available for download. Quer ajudar a população da Região Serrana? É fácil.

Seguem os pontos de doações:

Postos rodoviários, supermercados e abrigos estão recebendo donativos para ajudar as vítimas da chuva na Região Serrana do Rio. Os desabrigados e desalojados precisam de doações de água potável, alimentos, roupas, cobertores, colchonetes e itens de higiene pessoal, como sabonete, pasta de dente e fralda descartável.
Polícia Militar - Todos os batalhões da PM do Rio de Janeiro vão receber doações  a partir desta quinta-feira (13). Os comandantes dos batalhões recomendam a doação de água mineral, alimentos não perecíveis e material de higiene pessoal.
Rodoviária - A Rodoviária Novo Rio recebe doações para a Cruz Vermelha. Os donativos serão recebidos no piso de embarque inferior, das 9h às 17h.
Viva Rio - O Programa de Voluntariado do Viva Rio também iniciou uma campanha de arrecadação de roupas e mantimentos para a região serrana do Rio de Janeiro, especialmente Nova Friburgo, Teresópolis e Petrópolis. Para ajudar, basta fazer a doação na sede do Viva Rio (Rua do Russel, 76, Glória). Para mais informações o Viva Rio disponibiliza os telefones (21) 2555-3750 e (21) 2555-3785.
Postos em supermercados e rodovias -  O grupo de supermercados Pão de Açúcar montou postos de arrecadação em todas as 100 lojas da rede no estado do Rio. As doações podem ser feitas nos estabelecimentos Pão de Açúcar, ABC Compre Bem, Sendas , Extra Supermercados e Assaí. De acordo com o grupo, os donativos serão entregues até 26 de janeiro.
A partir de quinta-feira (13), a Polícia Rodoviária Federal vai montar quatro postos de arrecadação de alimentos e produtos de higiene pessoal. Dois pontos vão funcionar 24 horas, um deles será instalado na BR-116, na altura do pedágio da Rio-Magé, e o outro na BR-101, no trecho de Casimiro de Abreu.
Outros dois postos, na Rio-Petrópolis e na Rodovia Presidente Dutra, vão funcionar das 8h às 17 horas. A PRF informou que os alimentos arrecadados serão entregues para a Cruz Vermelha, que ficará encarregada de fazer a distribuição às vítimas.

1a Exposição de Arte na Biblioteca Comunitária de Rosal - Dez., 9, 2010

Espero que todos estejam muito bem.

Seguem fotos da 1a Exposição de Arte realizada pela Biblioteca Comunitária de Rosal. O evento ocorreu na Escola Municipal Luiz Tito de Almeida e não só nossos pequenos grandes artistas foram homenageados, como também os campeões de leitura da Biblioteca! Parabéns à voluntária e coordenadora da Biblioteca de Rosal, Valtair Dutra, pelo empenho e dedicação. Parabéns, também, às crianças e familiares por todos os dias darem vida ao espaço.

Um 2011 repleto de realizações como essas a todos!

Report and nutshell versions for download - Growing Happy Society and the Library Tree Project

Dear Friends,

We hope everyone is fine.

We are pleased to make the full and the nutshell versions of the Report on the Growing Happy Society and the Library Tree Project available for download herein.

One of our main motivations that we plan to promote through the present report is stimulating the establishment of new communitarian libraries. In our view, this can be done through the premises and the ideals that serve as guidelines for the projects developed by the Growing Happy Society and, specially, the Library Tree Project.

If you are already involved as a volunteer in social-related activities or decide to participate in one after reading this report, we look forward to hearing from you. Surely, we can jointly develop programs as the ones presented in this report.

The volunteers of The Growing Happy and The Library Tree Project participated on Projects in South America, United States, Europe and Africa, on the implementation of three communitarian libraries, one soccer school for children and teenagers, several sportive programs for disabled children and raised and donated thousands of books and toys and tons of clothes and food.

Projeto e Resumo - versões para download - Sociedade de Apoio à Inclusão Social Crescendo Feliz e Um Pé de Biblioteca

Prezados,

Esperamos que todos estejam muito bem.

É com enorme felicidade que compartilhamos, para download, as versões na íntegra e resumida do relatório dos projetos desenvolvidos pelos integrantes da Crescendo Feliz e do Projeto Um Pé de Biblioteca.

Uma das principais motivações que planejamos promover através dos presentes relatório e resumo é estimular o estabelecimento de novas bibliotecas comunitárias. Em nossa visão, isso pode difundir oportunidades educativas e contribuir para a criação de uma sociedade mais justa e solidária. A criação de bibliotecas pode ser feita através da materialização de premissas e ideais relativamente simples, que servem como diretrizes para os projetos desenvolvidos pela Sociedade Crescendo Feliz e, em especial, pelo Projeto Um Pé de Biblioteca.

Se você já é voluntário ou colaborador em alguma atividade social ou decida participar, após ler os documentos fornecidos, esperamos que você nos contate em breve.

Estamos certos que juntos podemos criar inúmeras oportunidades para o desenvolvimento da cidadania de crianças e adolescentes.

Equipe Crescendo Feliz e Um Pé de Biblioteca

Até o momento, os voluntários da Crescendo Feliz e do Um Pé de Biblioteca já participaram em projetos realizados na América do Sul, Estados Unidos, na Europa e na África, da implementação de três bibliotecas comunitárias, uma escola de futebol para crianças e adolescentes, diversos programas esportivos voltados para crianças portadoras de necessidades especiais e arrecadou e doou milhares de livros e brinquedos e toneladas de roupas e alimentos.
